It’s a new year and that means new trends will begin to appear in the fashion world. We must say, some of the buzz for new hair trends has us very excited. The Golden Globe awards helped kick off red carpet season and set the tone for what we can expect to see this year.
There were plenty of bedazzled up-dos on the carpet that were so much more than a beaded headband or clip. From Scarlet Stallone to SJP, it seemed like everyone had a bit of sparkle in their hair.
Beauty experts across the pond are predicting that we will see super slick, super blunt long hair this year. Break out that dusty flat iron and return to the center part with this trend! The key to making it work is to ensure your hair looks healthy, not fried. Using a product such as Kerastase Elixir Ultime will help you keep your strands looking sleek and sexy.
The high pony, a look we love, is set to make a comeback in 2017. Messy waves, or super tight and super high, this look can both be elegant and fun. Pro tip: Once your pony is secure, take a section of hair from under the hair and wrap it around the elastic. Secure the hair with bobby pins and some hairspray for a completed look.
Ultra-long extensions are set to stick around this year and you can thank celebs like the Kardashians and Rihanna for this trend. Ultra-long and sleek is on tap for this trend, which means extra time in the chair to achieve it.
Unfortunately, slick and shiny is also expected to be a hit for 2017. Now, don’t get us wrong, we love this look, but for everyday life it just doesn’t work. If you don’t do it right you could end up looking like you haven’t showered in a week. But if done correctly, it can have major wow factor. We recommend coming in to LHT to discuss how to get the look.
While 2016 was all about the pinks and pastels, 2017 is expected to be full of blondes. Tones will range from fiery strawberry red to blueberry brown and are expected to be a colourful explosion of fierceness.
Texture is going to make a big splash this year, and thank goodness! Effortless curls, perms (yes, perms) and lots of layers will be making an appearance in 2017.
Of course we haven’t forgotten about the men. The 2017 trends for guys are almost endless.
Think Grade 8, that cool guy with the long hair, frosted tips, and sultry eyes. Ok, forget the frosted tips, but do remember the long hair. The 1990’s boy band hair is set to make a comeback this year. Brendan Fraser wore it best and it still has a warm spot in our hearts. Grow it out and add some swagger. Nothing is sexier than beautiful hair on a beautiful man
Texture on top is going to stick around this year, but again, expect to see longer hair. More tousled and even including man bangs. Yes, bangs on men. Expect to see it. Embrace it. And hopefully we will move on. All jokes aside, if done correctly it could be pretty darn sexy. Anyone willing to try it out? We are!
Gray will make a comeback in 2017 and we enthusiastically say ‘YES’! Letting some of that silver shine through is a great way to keep the look natural, but not overwhelming. Keep some of that silver this year; it’s basically natural glitter.
